Norm Stricker
A fully accredited/licensed instructor and current owner/provider of West Central Michigan Driver Education. He teaches both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. He is highly experienced and qualified to manage both teenagers and adults in the process of learning how to drive.
Mr Stricker has a versatile employment background, including college level teaching, bank branch management, textbook sales, and nearly two decades of teaching Driver Education in local areas surrounding Big Rapids. He is also active in his community with Boy Scouts of America. Norm currently enjoys a dual career and is a highly experienced driver due to his many hours on the road as a sales representative. In the proverbial sense, he has “seen it all”. He holds a Michigan operators license with a motorcycle endorsement.
Norm got his Driver Training certification thru Central Michigan University in 1998, and also holds two Business degrees; from Ferris State University and Ashland University (Ashland, OH), as well as a certificate from the American Institute of Banking. He has served as President of a national teachers association (National Association of Marketing/Management Educators) and has received outstanding Teacher Awards from both the National and State Teacher’s Associations.
Norm enjoys the students, and likes watching them learn and mature as they deal with different driving situations. He brings versatility and experience to the job, which translates into knowledge and confidence. Norm is personable, and enjoys corny jokes, but you’ll find him to be “no nonsense” when it comes to attention and safety from his students.

Ruth Ann Steele
Meet Ruth Ann Steele - When you call that 796-0864 phone number, this is the voice you will hear, and/or the person who will return your call. She basically inherited the job when her husband Walter first began West Central Michigan Driver Ed back in Dec of 2004. To her great sadness, Mr. Steele died of cancer in August of 2007, but she was blessed to be able to turn over the business to Mr. Stricker, and see the school continue.
She’s been a licensed social worker for most of her adult life; worked with lots of mentally and physically impaired adults professionally for 13 years, helped Mr. Steele raise their family, and even helped other people raise theirs by operating her own in-home Day Care from 1988 to 2004. She’s personable and has the privileged task of administering the phone calls and paperwork that allows Mr. Stricker to do what he does best…….teach.
You’ll meet her on the first night of class where she’ll check you in, look at your Birth Certificate, and make sure all is in order. She’s a good one to ask questions of regarding the graduated driver license system, and will even help if a student needs help with reading comprehension in taking the exam. She’s a team player, but don’t ask her to get in the car with students….she prefers the office, thank you!
